AMS 2404 Nickel Plating

Aerospace-grade nickel plating services compliant with AMS 2404 for durability, conductivity, and dimensional precision.

Specification Overview

AMS 2404 defines the requirements for electrodeposited nickel coatings used in aerospace and defense components. The specification covers coating types, plating thickness, adhesion, corrosion resistance, and hydrogen embrittlement relief.

  • Type I: Sulfamate nickel (low stress, ductile)
  • Type II: Watts nickel (decorative, hard)
  • Thickness: 12.5µm – 100µm depending on criticality
  • Adhesion: Bend test or thermal cycle per spec
  • Post-treatment: Hydrogen embrittlement baking for high-strength steel
